How can spreadsheets and databases be used to address different learning goals?
They can be used to manipulate math and science information and helpful for understanding mathematical formulas. Other subjects can also be enhanced and made more interesting using spreadsheets. Data used in social studies such as income distibution, census information and population growth can be used in a spreadsheet. Spreadsheets can also be used to to manage research data.
I think spreadsheets also offer the opportunity for students to sort and categorize by utilizing technology. Great post!
ReplyDeleteI know that in alot of schools today that teachers are actually using spreadsheets as their grade books. It seems to be alot easier to do that and compile the total grades at the end instead of having to tally along the way in a written grade book. Good Job!
ReplyDeleteSpreadsheets can definitely be used for many different purposes in the classroom and students love to learn about how to manipulate different information in spreadsheets and how to use different formulas for spreadsheets.
ReplyDeleteSpreadsheets are very helpful for analyzing data, as you have suggested. While I was reading your post, I thought about plotting data from Physical Science with Dr. Maase. Spreadsheets were very helpful in that class, and I hope to learn more about them in the future.
