Producing and Presenting, Including Podcasting and Digital Storytelling

What role can digital storytelling play in education?

Producing a digital story provides students with the opportunity to integrate many educational skills with technology. Digital storytelling can help students explore and give meaning to their own experiences while sharing that experience with others. Storytelling requires research on the part of the students, a necessary skill that students need to acquire. It can also help students understand abstract concepts. Finally, digital storytelling fosters communication skills.

  1. Great post! It also fosters collaboration and social skills. If a small group of students works on a digital movie together, they must find a way to incorporate everyones ideas or compromise to get the project finished.

  2. I am excited, but nervous to incorporate digital story telling into my curriculum. I can definitely see how digital storytelling helps students share their experiences with other students.

  3. I think digital storytelling is so neat to do in the classroom. Students have many different stories to tell and this is a great way for them to share!

  4. I like that you mentioned how digital storytelling gives students the opportunity to give their own meaning to an experience. The fact that they can express how they feel about this is essential to growth.
