Getting to Know the World Wide Web

How does the hypertext structure of the World Wide Web facilitate nonlinear, dynamic access to information?

Clicking a hypertext link makes it easy to access information found outside of a web page. Many websites feature hypertext links to relatable resources. This is especially helpful for teachers. They can access many lesson plan ideas and activities using one website that links to other helpful sites. They can also use hypertext links in PowerPoints and SmartBoard lessons to instantly go to an audio or video clip.

  1. The use of hyperlinks also offers students the opportunity to view video tutorials of a topic of interest. Let's say a student is viewing a mathematical problem but isn't quite sure they understand how the answer was reached, a hypertext link could offer a video tutorial of the steps taken to acquire the correct answer.

  2. Christie I too love how you can put hyperlinks right into a powerpoint or smartboard presentation. The great part about hyperlinks too is that they are so convenient when added to main webpages then you are not searching all different sites for related information. The publisher tries to make it as easily accessible to the viewer.

  4. I still need to learn how to hyperlink inside a Powerpoint. I really like when you are able to click on a link and have it open in a new window. I get tired of clicking the back button to try to find my way back to where I was. Hyperlinks are quite handy. Thank you for the explanation.

  5. It is the key to navigating through the web. Links one web page to another. Usually underlined & in a differnet color.
